Gabriela Medeiros is a Philadelphia based fine artist who specializes in printmaking. Originally from Long Island, NY, Gabriela moved to Philly in 2014 to study Printmaking and Art Therapy at The University of the Arts. She received her BFA in May 2018. After spending a good portion of her high school experience in and out of hospitals, Gabriela was encouraged to pursue a career in Art Therapy, where she plans on using her skills as an artist to help other people going through difficult situations. Gabriela Medeiros’ work focuses primarily on the inward/ outward struggle of living with a life-altering chronic illness. Through rugged black and white woodcuts, she exposes the harsh reality of mourning oneself and the emotional, physical, and psychological toll that takes on the human body.
